Greetings and welcome to Mrs. Soland's science classroom! My name is Mrs. Soland, and I am excited to have you in my class this semester. Here's a little information about me (your teacher):
I received my Bachelor of Science degree in psychology and biology from Arizona State University. Afterwards, I worked in special education for two years while earning my Masters degree in Secondary Education from Northern Arizona University.
I have been teaching science for sixteen years. I started my career teaching 6th, 7th, and 8th grade science at Pioneer Elementary, and then transitioned over to Cactus High School in 2013, so I am very familiar with the Cactus cluster of schools. (Oh, yeah, did I mention I graduated from Cactus High School? Go Cobras!!) Before teaching, I was an instructional assistant in a resource classroom at Desert Palms Elementary. (That's a total of eighteen years that I've been in the classroom!) Currently, I teach Biology, Biology Honors, and B.A.T. (Biological Applications and Technology). I am looking forward to a great year at Cactus and in the science classroom.
